You want to convert from AVI to DVD? Okay, I have it for you.
Hi, it's me, Dredd, again. Most downloadable movies are AVI (DivX)
format.
Yes, yes, I hear you - you have a few AVI files of your
favorite movie series and you want to combine them into one DVD.
As
always, I have the answers for you.
CONVERT AVI TO DVD
We are going to use a free program
called, Videos to DVD, to convert AVI to DVD. You have, for example
one AVI movie or you have more than one file
that you want to turn into a DVD.
It is basically the reverse
process from creating a DivX (AVI) movie, where we have converted
DVD to AVI. Here we are
turning AVI files into VOB files. (AVI to DVD)
With this program we can also
create a menu for your DVD. That means that when you slide your DVD into
your DVD player (PC or TV) a menu will come up. You can then select from
the menu which file you want to play.
This is very handy when you
have more than one AVI file, lets say, Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3
and Episode 4 of your favorite series.
We will now convert them
into one DVD with a menu where you can choose which Episode you want to
play. The menu is very creative to play around with.
In the “DVD Label” text box, type in the name of your movie (Marked as “1”).
3.
From “DVD Format”, select NTSC or
PAL (Marked as “2”), depending on your TV,
is it NTSC or PAL.
4.
On the right side of the window, 16:9 is used in widescreen TV’s and 4:3
your normal TV. You can use either one; just remember to set your DVD
player (for your TV) to 4:3 or 16:9, depending on the one that you have
chosen.
5.
Leave the “Working Directory” as it is. (Marked
as “3”) (It is only a temporary directory which
the program uses.)
6.
Click NEXT.
7.
Click on ADD CHAPTERS (Marked as “4”) and
select your DivX movie file (or files) and click
on OPEN.
8.
Your DivX movie will now be added (Marked as
“5”). It can take a few seconds to add, just
wait for it.
9.
Now you can change the size of the outcome files
by dragging the slide bar (Marked as “6”) left
or right. Look at the Estimated size
(Marked as
“7”). If you are going to use a
DVD5 disc to
copy the movie onto, then see that the size does
not exceed 4300MB. If you are going to use a
DVD9 disc, see that the size does not exceed
8500MB.
10.
Click NEXT.
11.
If you do not want a menu, click here (Marked as
”8”), and choose DVD WITHOUT MENU. Then
click NEXT. Your movie will now be
converted to DVD.
AVI TO DVD: CREATE A MENU FOR MY DVD
12.
Click here (Marked as "8") and choose
"CLASSICAL MENU".
13.
Here is the Title Settings (Marked as “9”). Here you can change the color, font size, font
and the position of your title. Play around
with these settings until you are satisfied.
14.
You can change the Background of your menu here
(Marked as “10”). You can use any image that
you like as a background, e.g. the DVD cover
that you have downloaded from
DVD Movie Covers.
15.
Click on the CHAPTER’S TITLE tab (Marked
as “11”).
16.
Select one of the file names (Marked as “12”),
then you can rename it here (Marked as “13”), if
you want to. You will see on the right-hand
side of the window, a preview of your menu. You
can click on the preview to view the menu
larger.
17.
Click on the CHAPTER’S SETTINGS tab
(Marked as “14”).
18.
Here (Marked as “15”), you can change the font,
color, font size, the position etc., of your
chapter’s titles. See on the right-hand side
how it changes.
19.
When you are finished with all your settings,
click NEXT (Marked as “16”).
20.
Here (Marked as “17”) you can choose to burn
your files to DVD disc, or Save the project as
ISO image file, or save it as your normal VOB
files. Your DVD menu will now be integrated
into the DVD files, just burn it to a blank
disc. You have just converted AVI to DVD with a
workable menu.
21.
I recommend you use the option "Only
create IFO, VOB files", because then
the DVD files will be on your hard drive and you
can make as many copies as you want from it. The
Output Directory is where your
DVD files will be saved.
22.
Click on
free
DVD burning software and I will show you 2
free options on how to burn your DVD files to a
blank disc, after you have converted your AVI to
DVD files.
