COPY DVD TO HARD DRIVE : MAIN MOVIE

This is the easiest way to copy your DVD movie. The Main Movie option is also recommended if you want to convert your DVD files to another format such as DivX.

1. Click on MAIN MOVIE (Marked as “1”).

2. Look at the AUDIO check box (Marked as "4"). Here you can select the language of your DVD. The default will be English. You can also add more than one language and it will be integrated into your DVD, so when you play it on your TV, you can choose between the different languages. Note that when you add more languages, your DVD is getting bigger (in file size – Marked as “5”), it will then maybe need more compression.

What I do here is, I de-select all the language options (Marked as "4") then I select only "English AC-3/5.1"

While you are busy with these options, you will see DVDFab is playing your movie. Just to be sure everything is correct, listen to the sound of the movie. Sometimes it plays the wrong track. All you do is, just de-select (uncheck) all the languages (Marked as "4") and select only the one you want (usually, English AC-3/5.1)

3. Now look at the SUBPICTURE (SUBTITLE) check box, (Marked as “3”). Here you can choose if you want any subtitles in your movie and the language of it. If you don’t want any, just make sure all is unchecked.

4. Click here (Marked as “2”) to choose if you are going to use a DVD5 or DVD9 blank disc.

Remember, it is all about the file size.

If you use a DVD5 disc, the file size of your movie must be smaller than 4.3GB (4300MB) to have no compression on your files.

I always try to work it out to have no compression (to have the best quality), although sometimes you cannot do it without compression.

If it shows 100% (Marked as "5") that means your files will not be compressed. If it shows 98% (Marked as "5") that means your files will be compressed by 2%. If it shows 88%, that means your files will be compressed by 12%, etc.

If you choose DVD5 disc, DVDFab will compress (make smaller) your files to 4.3GB (4300MB) so that it will fit onto your DVD5 blank disc.

If you do a compression of less than 30%, the quality difference between your movie and the original movie will be difficult to see with the naked eye.

If DVDFab does not give you the option of DVD5, then leave it on DVD9, and we will compress it with DVD Shrink, after we have copied it to our hard drive.

5. Now click on the folder button (Marked as “6”) and choose where you want the DVD files to be copied to on your hard disc.

6. Now click NEXT (Marked as “7”) and then START. Wait for DVDFab to Copy your movie.
