We are going to use
DVDFab to copy DVD to hard drive. (We're going to use the
free version.)
You can download
DVDFab for free from
here or here.
Make sure you download the "CSS" version, NOT the "non-CSS" version. CSS
= Content Scramble System. Most DVD's use CSS for protection.
DVDFab copies all the files on the DVD disc, to your hard drive.
► |
After you have downloaded DVDFab , click on
the DVDFab.exe file (that you have downloaded) to install it on your
computer. |
► |
Now, slide the DVD that you want to copy DVD to hard drive into your DVD writer. Close any
program that comes up or wants to play the DVD. |
► |
Click on the shortcut that was created on your desktop (or click
START, select
PROGRAMS and then choose DVDFAB)
to start DVDFab. |
► |
Click on HD Decrypter (Free Edition)
(Marked as 1) then click on Start DVDFab
(Marked as 2). DVDFab will now inspect the
DVD. You can use some of the other options
like: DVD to DVD or DVD to Mobile, but you will
only have 30 days to use them. The HD Decrypter
will not expire.
► |
Click on DVD to DVD (Marked as 3)
► |
Now you have the option of copying the Full
Disc or only the Main Movie. (The
other options will be covered later). |
COPY DVD TO HARD
DRIVE:
FULL DISC |
With this option
you can copy everything on the DVD disc
including: The Main Movie, Menus, Trailers,
all Languages and subtitles. Remember that
there are 2 kinds of blank DVD discs that you
can use to copy your movie onto DVD5 and
DVD9. The DVD5 disc holds ± 4.3GB of data and
the DVD9 holds ± 8.5GB of data. The DVD5s are
less expensive and are the most commonly used.
The DVD9s are also called double layer discs.
By using the FULL DISC option, it is
recommended to use a DVD9 blank disc. Although
a DVD5 disc can still be used, in some cases the
DVD files will be compressed and a little bit of
quality will be lost.
1. |
Now click on FULL DISC (Marked as 4).
2. |
Now click here (Marked as 5) and choose if you
are going to use a DVD9 or DVD5 blank disc to
copy the DVD onto.
3. |
Have a look at the quality percentage here
(Marked as 6). If it shows 100%, there will
be no compression done. If it shows 98%, that
means your movie will be compressed by 2%. If
it shows 90%, that means your movie will be
compressed by 10%, etc. The less you compress
it, the better your quality will be. Although,
if you do a compression of less than 20%, the
quality difference between your movie and the
original DVD, will be difficult to see with the
naked eye.
4. |
Now click on the folder button (Marked as 7)
and select a folder where you want to copy the
DVD files to. You can then click on MAKE NEW
FOLDER, give it the name of your movie, and
click OK.
5. |
Now click the START button (Marked as
8) and wait for DVDFab to copy your movie. |
COPY DVD TO HARD
DRIVE:
MAIN MOVIE |
This is the easiest way to copy your DVD movie.
The Main Movie option is also recommended if you
want to create a DivX movie afterwards.
1. |
Click on MAIN MOVIE (Marked as 9).
2. |
Click here (Marked as 10) to choose if you are
going to use a DVD5 or DVD9 blank disc. Do not
worry if it needs a little bit of compression.
3. |
Now look at the SUBPICTURE (SUBTITLE)
check box, (Marked as 11). Here you can
choose if you want any subtitles in your movie
and the language of it. If you dont want any,
just make sure all is unchecked.
4. |
Look at the AUDIO check box (Marked as
12). Here you can select the language of your
DVD. The default will be English. You can also
add more than one language and it will be
integrated in your DVD, so when you play it on
your TV, you can choose between the different
languages. Note that when you add more
languages, your DVD is getting bigger (in file
size Marked as 13), it will then maybe need
more compression.
5. |
Now click on the folder button (Marked as 14)
and choose where you want the DVD files to be
copied to on your hard disc.
6. |
Now click NEXT (Marked as 15) and then
START. Wait for DVDFab to Copy your
movie. |
