You can convert your movies to VCD, SVCD or
DivX
Movie.
An optimum file size for a DivX Movie is 1GB, so
you can write 4 good quality movies on a DVD5
disc. You can then add 8 DivX Movies to a DVD9
disc (double-layer disc). Use your DVD writing program that
came with your DVD writer e.g. Nero. You will
see there is an option – Make
Data DVD. Use
that specific option and add your MPG or AVI
files, then write them to the disk. Write only
the files, not the folders, it makes it easier
when you view it on your TV. |

Before we
start to make a DivX
Movie, download and install the
DivX codec
onto your computer.
With DivX we
can create a small size, high quality movie. DivX is the latest compression
utility in the movie industry today. All the latest DVD players (for your
TV) support DivX, as well as the latest
cell phones. DivX has done for the movie industry what mp3 has done
for the music industry (it gives you high quality, but in a smaller size).
For the best
quality DivX movie, first rip your DVD with DVDFab using the Main Movie
option. See
COPY DVD TO HARD DRIVE for details.
Now you have a small size, high quality DVD. From that, we can create a
high quality DivX movie. We are going to convert the VOB files to an AVI
file.
(For DVDFab owners, DVDFab also does a
very good job creating a DivX Movie, use the Generic Option.)

only thing here is to check the OUTPUT FRAME
RATE (Marked as
"1").
If
your original DVD disc was PAL, then leave it on
25.0 PAL. If the disc was NTSC, change it to
23.976 or 29.97 NTSC. Usually 23.976.
If you are not sure, leave it on PAL. Click the
OK button (Marked as
"2").
If you get a warning message which says, “The
output and input frame rate are not equal”,
then you know you must change it to NTSC.

Here you can choose the file size you want your
movie to be. In this case we want to put 4 DivX
movies on 1 DVD disc, so we want the movie size
more or less 1100MB. So put in 1100 in the box
(Marked as
"14"),
click ACCEPT, then OK.
Now the important thing here is to look at the
Estimated size (Marked as
"15").
You will see that the Estimated size here is a
little bit bigger than what we have chosen. Go
back to the bitrate calculator and set it a bit
lower until the Estimated size is what you want
it to be.
