You will find that
printing a DVD label is quite easy. There are
computer shops that sell CD Label Kits, with that are stickers included the
size of the DVD disc which makes
printing a DVD label easier. These stickers fit on an A4/Letter which can be
fed into your printer. They usually come in a paper box, with printing
software included. When you go to one of the cover sites like
www.cdcovers.cc or
Movie DVD Covers, you will see that you can also download the DVD disc
label. (The picture that is on the DVD disc itself). After you have
downloaded the disc label, use the software that came with the stickers to
commence the printing of a DVD
label on one of
the stickers. Then press the sticker onto your disc, usually using a CD
label kit.
Another way
is to buy printable blank DVD discs. You will find that in any
computer shop. Here you will need a printer that has a CD tray, which
is designed for printing a DVD
label directly onto CD’s and DVD’s. This is the easiest way.
You just download the DVD label, put your printable blank DVD
disc into your printer and
printing the
DVD label
onto the disc using the software provided by the printer.
The most
cost effective way to label your DVD discs is to use LightScribe. |
LightScribe
is a disc-labelling technology which uses a laser to create a label on your
disc. First of all you need a DVD-Writer that supports LightScribe.
It will have this LightScribe logo on it:
All the
newest DVD Writers comes equipped with LightScribe and are the same price as
the old ones. It doesn’t use ink, so it is very cost effective, but
you have to buy LightScribe discs. You can’t use the LightScribe
technology on your normal blank DVD discs. The LightScribe discs have
a golden coating on one side, and you can buy them at any computer shop. |
After you
have burned your DVD files on your LightScribe disc, take the disc out and
flip it over so that the side with the golden coating is facing down and
place it back into the DVD Writer. The picture burned on your disc
will only be in gold and gradients of black, this is because of the laser
that LightScribe use and not ink.
We are going
to use Nero to burn the picture on your disc. Nero comes standard with
most DVD Writers. If you don’t have Nero,
download the
Nero
trial version.
Check that you have a new version of Nero, the old ones doesn’t support
LightScribe label printing.
Open Nero
by clicking on START
then PROGRAMS, select NERO then choose
NERO OEM and click on NERO COVER DESIGN.
It will look like this:
1. |
Click on the
LIGHTSCRIBE icon (Marked as “1”) at the left of the window, then click
on the EMPTY DOCUMENT icon (Marked as “2”) and then click OK.
(Marked as “3”)
2. |
To insert the image,
click on the IMAGE TOOL button (Marked as “4”) on the left side of
the window, browse to where you have saved your picture for your disc.
(If you don’t have an image yet, go to
FREE COVERS
or
http://www.cdcovers.cc/covers
and
download it, remember, here you must download the disc image.) Click
on the file you want and click OPEN.
3. |
You will have a ghost
square (Marked as “5”) attached to your mouse pointer (Marked as “6”).
Position the mouse pointer precisely in the center of the CD sample (Marked
as “7”), and click once.
4. |
Now you can resize the
image to fit on the CD using the resizing squares at each corner and on each
side of the image. Try to use only the corner squares (Marked as “8”)
to resize the image to fit on the CD sample.
5. |
Once you are satisfied
that the image fits on the CD sample, click on FILE then choose
LIGHTSCRIBE PRINT PREVIEW
(remember your disc must be in your Writer, facing down). This gives
you a preview of how the CD will look like when the image is burned on it.
If it doesn’t seem right or fit on the CD sample, click OK and then
drag the resizing square(s) that needs attention. You can Print
Preview it again until you are satisfied.
6. |
When you’re done, click
FILE and choose
PRINT LIGHTSCRIBE LABEL.
Choose BEST (Marked as “9”) and click on PRINT (Marked as
“10”). Your label will now be printed (burned) onto your disc.
7. |
You can also save your
project once the label has been burned on your disc. Click FILE
and select SAVE
AS.
In the File Name text box, type the name of your movie or any other name
that you want to save it as. In the Save In drop-down list box, select
the location to where you want to save your file. Click SAVE.
The file will be saved as an .NCD file.
8. |
The next time you want
to burn that same image, you don’t have to do the whole process from start;
you just double click on the specific .NCD file that you have saved.
Nero Cover Design will open automatically and all you have to do is click on
FILE and choose
PRINT LIGHTSCRIBE LABEL. |
